The biggest drawback to this sword is you can't get it until the Dragon Shrine and it's possibly even harder to farm than Drakekeeper's. You can upgrade it with Petrified Dragon Bone and is very deadly if you have it maxed out. It has a superb moveset, including a 2h r1 poke attack with scarily good range and the amount of times I've won using this alone without the need for 50 Attunement worth of Pyromancies is amazing. Aside from looking super badass, this weapon has a relatively high requirement of 20 strength and 15 dexterity, and in return, this weapon has by far the best AR of any straight sword at it's required stat level - a whopping 300 uninfused, 420 infused. It's super light and has low stamina cost, but it still breaks super easily. Well the truth is that scaling simply isn't that important in this game. There's a sword that the sword-n-shield drakekeepers drop that has good damage, on par with the sunlight straight sword. Its quite long for being only 2 weight, isn't dependent on weight and has 120 counter damage. The chest contains the Zweihander. Durability: The weapon's HP, when the durability hits 0, the effectiveness of its attacks become weakened to the point of almost uselessness. 30 or 50 FTH (for the softcap) with Sunlight Blade and Lightning Infusion for PvE, but if you're going for PvP I believe the best would be 30 INT and 30 FTH with Dark Weapon and Dark Infusion. The same is true for R2's, rolling R1's, etc.By contrast, the Sun Sword's rolling R1 and the Broadsword's are not comparable because they are different attacks.What this means is that barring wonky hitboxes, the range of a weapon's attack should be determined solely by it's moveset and length of the blade.
